Why Vitalis

Canada’s public-funded healthcare system faces growing challenges in meeting the increasing demand for timely medical access. According to the Fraser Institute (2024), the median wait time for a specialist referral in Canada is 27.7 weeks (approximately 26.5 weeks in Manitoba), while surgical wait times range from 12–18 weeks depending on the procedure.

In Manitoba, for general surgery, the average wait is 16.2 weeks — far longer than what most patients expect or deserve. More than 60% of Manitobans report dissatisfaction with the speed of access to non-emergency care, and over 70% of Canadians would even consider private options for faster treatment.

At Vitalis, we aim to change that — by creating a modern, integrated healthcare model that prioritizes timeliness, safety, and patient satisfaction.
